About this product
Ten pairs of soft silicone putty that you warm between your fingers and press to the shape of your own outer ear. Unlike wax putties, this is a silicone compound: it does not melt at body temperature, it does not leave residue on a pillow, and it does not go hard in a cold bathroom.
Putty sits in the bowl of the outer ear and across the canal opening rather than being pushed down a canal, which is why swimmers and side sleepers tend to end up here. It is rated NRR 22, the lowest in this catalog, and the trade is comfort against a pillow and a water-resistant seal.

Fitting protection into a day
Putty is the most forgiving plug here and the one people get wrong first time. Step two is why.

Warm and roll it into a ball
Work one piece between clean fingers for fifteen seconds until it softens, then roll it into a smooth ball with no creases.

Press over the opening, do not push in
Flatten the ball slightly and press it over the canal opening so it fills the bowl of the outer ear. It should sit in the ear, not go down it. This is the part people get wrong.

Smooth the edges to seal
Run a fingertip around the rim until the edge is continuous against skin. A putty plug leaks at the edge, not through the middle.

Peel off from the edge
Lift an edge and peel rather than pulling from the centre. Keep the pair if it is still clean; discard it once it picks up grit or hair.

- Do not push putty into the ear canal. It seals across the opening.

- Do not use on an ear that is painful, draining or infected.
